Now shipping: iOn version 5.0

EM3 delivers the most powerful out-of-box Web Content Management system yet available to provide rich functionality, greater ease-of-use, widespread interoperability, and platform flexibility to the entire spectrum of an organization's Web contributors and IT staff.

SAN JOSE, California – Jan 3, 2005- Group EM3, Inc (EM3), the authority on Web content management, is now shipping version 5.0 of its flagship software EM3 iOn. This major release offers hundreds of new features that greatly enhance administration for content contributors as well as easy, flexible deployment options for your IT department.

New for Web Project Managers/Contributors

EM3 iOn v5's streamlined workflow engine gives users more control over their custom workflow processes while making starting, updating, and closing workflow projects a breeze.

A new, enhanced Web administration interface maximizes screen real estate, giving users with high monitor resolutions the most use of available desktop space.

The administration interface now supports not only Windows Internet Explorer 6.0+ but also the Mozilla 1.7+ Suite of browsers, such as Netscape 7.2, on both Windows and Macintosh OS X platforms.

The new administration interface provides speed improvements ranging from 100-500% when working with dynamic elements containing hundreds or thousands of properties.

Extended administrative searching and reporting with "remembered" search criteria for all iOn-managed objects provides users the ultimate management tool, far more powerful than competitors' basic folder browsing mechanisms.

Enhanced bulk/batch operations give administrative users powerful control over multiple publishable objects -- from state management to versioning to site-group-object permissions.

New Content Class-to-Site permissions give site managers more scale by allowing them to more easily segment classes of information destined only for certain sites.

New Object Access Control Lists give users a fourth permissioning model with which to apply granular security constraints over content administration.

New for IT Managers/Developers

iOn is now 100% Java end-to-end, which means IT managers have more flexibility to deploy iOn on any server platform supporting Java that fits with their security, scalability, and support requirements -- Windows, Unix, Linux, etc.

In addition to Microsoft SQL Server 2000, iOn now supports Oracle* 9i/10g as a back-end data store.

In addition to full LDAP integration from iOn.Site, iOn.Admin v5 now supports both authentication and Administrative Group membership from any LDAP source, including Windows Active Directory.

iOn.Site -- the dynamic page delivery application -- now includes extended caching of all page elements in addition to core page content. This provides significantly increased performance for fully dynamic, personalized content delivery and decreases dependency on the back-end data store. Pages are served at near-static speed, with all the powerful benefits of dynamic content.

* iOn coupled with Oracle only supports single-byte character set languages, such as English, French, German, Spanish, etc. Managing content in languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Arabic require SQL Server 2000.
