EM3 certifies Macromedia JRun

EM3's commitment to cross-platform application deployment without need for proprietary technologies is further demonstrated with the certification of the popular and cost-effective Macromedia JRun 4 Java application server.

box_jrun_112x112.jpgSAN JOSE, California - September 15, 2003- Group EM3, Inc (EM3), the authority on Web content management, certifies Macromedia JRun 4 as an application server that EM3 customers may use to host iOn.Site. Because of its level of J2EE compatibility, performance, manageability, and Web server integration, JRun has been added by EM3 to the list of approved application servers/Servlet containers in which iOn can run, providing all of its functionality.

Certification points which JRun has passed:

  • Application server allows iOn to deploy as a Web application archive (.WAR) file
  • Application server allows iOn to run in the root context of a Web site
  • Application server allows iOn to run over any HTTP port
  • Application server may be used as a Servlet container to other Web containers, including Microsoft IIS and Apache
  • Application to Web container connector allows for multiple directory mapping
  • Application server manages session state for visitors
  • Application server-provided Java classes do not override or conflict with EM3 classes
  • Application server provides configurable logging

"In addition to meeting the minimum technical requirements for an iOn deployment, JRun is an affordable option for many of our customers, and it is supported on many different platforms," said Steve Dalal, EM3's CTO. "While there are lower cost alternatives in the open source space that work great, we have found that many of our customers need commercial support for their Servlet container, and Macromedia's is first-rate."
